Why Gamification? Because gamification stimulates healthy competitiveness and creates a more fun experience, which motivates employees to complete training modules faster and with greater interest. It also makes the learning process more active and interactive, increasing the likelihood that employees will remember what they have learned, which is one of the main goal of the microlearning tool.
How does it work? Each course will be assigned a score and at the end of the course, the user will receive this score. Each user will have its own point ranking and once a certain number of points has been reached, the user will receive a generic badge that is not directly linked to the completion of the courses but which certifies a generic skill.
Click here to discover more about badges.
To configure Gamification, you have to enter the individual course and click on ‘Actions’ and then "Configure".
The Configure panel will appear and you must click on "Gamification".
There are three possibilities for assigning points:
Course completion bonus
One shot final quiz bonus
Course completion on time
You can choose weather to flag them all three or just have one type.
If you choose this option, the user will receive the score once you have completed the course.
To choose this option, simply flag it and enter the desired score under ‘Score’.
If you choose this option, the user will receive the indicated score if they manage to pass the final quiz (if any) on the first attempt.
To choose this option, simply flag it and enter the desired score under ‘Score’.
With this option you choose to set a due date for the completion of the course. In this way the user will receive a ‘maximum score’ if he/she completes the course by the specified date ; if he/she does not complete by the specified date he/she will receive a ‘minimum score’.
There is also the possibility of removing points every few days from the due date if the user oversteps the completion date.
To set this feature, simply enter under ‘Degradation’ how many days after the expiry date you want to remove points and under ‘Removing points’ enter the number of points you want to remove.
Example: you put a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 50 points, which means that if the user completes the course by the due date he/she will receive 100 points, otherwise he/she will receive a minimum of 50 points.
If you choose to enter the ‘Degradation’ feature and you enter .for example. 2 days and 5 in the points to be removed, this means that every two days from the expiry date 5 points will be deducted from the 100 points. Therefore, if the user does not complete the course by 21 November, two days later, i.e. 23 November, the maximum score will drop to 95 and every two days the score will drop to a minimum of 50 points. So in any case, the user will receive a minimum of 50 points because in ‘minimum points’ you entered 50.
