The web part is composed of two functionalities, one for inserting bookings and one for viewing existing bookings.
Click on Manage Resources, in the top right corner.
A panel will appear from which you can set three items:
Resources
Resource types
Properties
First of all, set the Resource type:
Insert the resource type to be booked, for example a meeting room.
Choose the name of the resource (for example: meeting room) and time settings; for example, a resource can be booked for a maximum of 10 hours, from 8 am to 6 pm.
Save the changes.
Then, set the Properties. Properties allow resources to be filtered by working as a discriminating factor. In other words, when booking a resource, you can choose which property it should have, so that only resources with that property will be shown.
Property name: for example, instruments.
Property value: monitor.
In this panel, all the properties will be displayed.
Now, create Resources:
Click on the Resources button in the top left corner.
Fill in the fields: name, brief description, type, image (which can be uploaded from your pc), and properties that define this resource.
After the settings are saved, what will be visualized in the page is more or less like this:
This is the page dedicated to users, where each person can view their own reservations and make new ones.
Once the administrators have added the resources, the page will be displayed in this way. Each user will exclusively see their own reservations.
Administrators, on the other hand, can see all the bookings made, and furthermore, they can click on any booking to delete or modify it.
Here is a brief overview of the roles of people using the Booking web part. It is important to have a clear understanding of who can manage bookings and who can only make bookings, so that during the installation of the web part, we can assign the necessary permissions to specific users.
Admin users can:
View bookings made by everyone;
Edit resources and create new ones;
Delete or modify all bookings.
Power Readers can view bookings made by all users but CANNOT modify them.
Regular users can only make bookings and view their own bookings on the dedicated page.
